More than any other Spanish region, Catalonia has its own unique cultural identity, and even its own language – Catalan. Mas Julia is a beautifully restored two-hundred-year-old stone farmhouse set on 30 acres of land in the wooded hills of Catalonia. Just 8 miles from the ancient city of Girona, the location offers easy access to the beaches and fishing towns of the Costa Brava (within an hour’s drive). Barcelona can be reached by car or train in a little more than one hour. Figueres, home of the Dali Museum, and the Pyrenees are 45 minutes away.
The surrounding countryside is delightful for walking, cycling and fishing. Facilities for horseback riding, kayaking and golf are located nearby. The nearest village is within walking distance (1 mile) and has shops, restaurants and supermarket.
A winding, unpaved road leads to the house, which has been restored in keeping with its original architecture but has been modernized and furnished to a high level of style and comfort. The location is quiet and peaceful (except for the church bells of St Julia de Llor – don’t worry, they stop at night!), with beautiful unobstructed views and not another house in sight.
A stone entrance hall opens into a spacious living room with a fireplace and vaulted ceiling. A large fully equipped kitchen/dining room is outfitted with a dishwasher and microwave. Doors open onto the patio, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere.
Mas Julia has 5 bedrooms. On the mezzanine level are two bedrooms with two twin beds each. These bedroom share a bathroom with shower. Three bedrooms are located on the second floor. The master bedroom with queen-sized bed, balcony and en suite bathroom. Two bedrooms (one with queen bed and one with twins) share a bathroom with shower. Also on this floor is a traditional terrace with open walls for semi-outdoor living. There is also a powder room/laundry with a washer and dryer.
Amenities include satellite TV, DVD, stereo, and wireless broadband Internet access. Outside, you will find a large pool (12 x 6 meters), BBQ, ping-pong table, shaded verandas, and a patio. Relax in the foothills of the Pyrenees, within easy reach of the sea.
