Barcelona balances its old history with a sense
of modernity. Nowhere is this more evident than in the city's architecture. Barcelona
is a center of Modernist architecture and is noted for the works of Antoni Gaudí,
a Catalonian architect and designer known for his vivid colors and outlandish
forms, and considered the leader of the Spanish Art Nouveau movement.
Casa Juan offers luxury accommodations in an elegant, modern apartment designed and decorated by prestigious architects and interior designers. Located on the same city block as “La Pedrera,” the showpiece Gaudí building, its central location gives easy access to the city’s most elegant boulevard, Passeig de Gracia, and the city center, Placa de Catalunya.
The building is of the traditional “Eixample” town house style, with a large central stairway, an open-sided lift and two apartments per floor. The apartment is shaped in an elongated rectangle with exterior facades at both ends, so there is plenty of light and ventilation. It includes a spacious living/dining area, terrace, kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, study, and 2 double bedrooms (each with bathroom). The original window frames in the bedrooms have been conserved, but the glass has been replaced by double glazed windows, ensuring quiet. The living/dining area leads to a terrace that overlooks neighboring gardens and has a view of the “Pedrera.” Part of the terrace has been converted to a studio.
Tall ceilings and original ceiling decorations have been maintained throughout. Floors in all of the communal areas are made of cherry wood parquet, except for the bathrooms, which are finished in tile and natural stone. Most of the large pieces of furniture are also made of cherry wood, giving a harmonious visual impression.
Amenities include:
- Washer and dryer
- 27" flat screen TV
- CD/DVD player
- Computer with flat screen monitor (Wifi broadband internet access) and printer
- Safe
- Air conditioning in both bedrooms and living area
