High in the hills, above the Costa del Sol lies the lovely town
of San Pablo de Buceite. A quintessential pueblo blanco or "white
village" so called because of the startlingly bright white stucco
walls of the houses perched on hillsides, San Pablo is a quiet
village with all the amenities necessary for living in your house
in Spain. Nearby is the larger and better-known town of Jimena
de la Frontera where an ancient castle dominates the landscape
and towers over the town. Busy with tourists and residents alike,
Jimena is a grand start for your explorations of the highlands
of Andalucia.
Within an hour are the coast and the famous beaches of Sotogrande
and Estepona, and a bit further afield, the incomparable beach
at La Bolonia where the white sand stretches for miles. Going
up into the hills, you can visit more white villages, among them
Gaucin and Montejacque, You can also reach the Pileta Caves for
a day trip to see the glyphs of the earliest of the residents
of Spain. Ubrique, where leather products are made for Burberry
and Mulberry, is about 1 ½ hours. And, probably the town that
merits the most attention in the area is the astounding town of
Ronda where the "old" town and the "new" town are divided by a
stunning gorge.
The house is reached by driving on a 2km long "unmade" road that
leads straight through orange groves. Not an arduous drive, the
surface can be rough. The owners of Los Borrequitos have thought
of everything to make your stay comfortable. High ceilings and
open spaces invite you to come into the house. There is an open
plan living, dining and kitchen with a microwave. Comfortable
sofas, a welcoming wood burning stove for a cool evening, and
extremely well equipped kitchen and utility room allow you to
make yourself totally at home, and to tend to all your needs.
The house is suitable for someone with walking problems but is
not wheelchair accessible.
There are two bedrooms. The larger of the two has a queen-sized
double bed, a seat, desk and chair and an ensuite bathroom with
a tub and separate shower. The second bedroom has twin beds and
ensuite bathroom with a shower, a sitting area and a desk and
chair. There is abundant closet and storage space in each room,
with plenty of hangers and shelves for clothes.
Outside, there is a wonderful view of the hills beyond the carefully
planted garden. The terrace, equipped with garden and beach chairs,
and the pool provide for perfect ways to wrap up the day - or
even spend long hours reading and swimming.
