At the foot of the Italian Alps is the small town of Maser, known for its
magnificent villas. Asolo, the marvelous walled town where Robert Browing once
lived, is 10 km (6 mi.) away; Bassano del Grappa (after which the drink grappa
is named), with its charming shops and narrow streets, its entertaining street
performers, and its famous covered wooden bridge is roughly 18 km (12 mi.) away.
The medieval town of Treviso with its balconied houses along a willow bordered
canal is 30 km (18 mi.) away. Venice is another 20 km beyond Treviso. Padua (Padova),
famous for a renaissance central district (centro), where you will discover Giotto's
Cappella, St. Antonio's Basillica, and the third oldest university in Europe,
is about 50 km (32 mi.) away.
The Veneto is remarkable for its beauty,
cuisine, art, Palladian villas and historical cities. Some of the most delightful
and exciting sights in Italy are within easy reach from this comfortable and beautiful
villa. In addition, there are the mountains and lakes to explore. The villa owners
have arranged for a reduced fee for their guests at the local golf club, and are
happy to arrange visits to local wineries with advance notice. Return home from
sightseeing to sit under your pergola and enjoy the quiet and peace in an extensive
garden with your own swimming pool. This eighteenth century villa, (click
here for floorplans) recently restored to a high level of comfort for modern
living, measures 8000 sq. ft. The ground floor consists of two living rooms, two
dining rooms (the smaller is a breakfast room), a fully furnished kitchen with
dishwasher, a utility room with washer and a half bathroom. The impressive red
room, the largest of the sitting rooms, is Spanish in flavor, and leads out to
a charming pergola. Upstairs, on the second level, are four bedrooms with en suite
bathrooms, two with showers in tubs, two with tubs. The master bedroom has a king-sized
bed, while the other three have twin beds. All four bedrooms are attractively
furnished with fine linens and antiques and each has a TV.
On the third
floor is a separate large apartment (1800 sq. ft.) which can be rented two ways.
As the Mini, there is one double bedroom and one bathroom. For larger groups,
it can be rented as the Maxi, with 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one with
tub, one with shower). There is a large living room and a fully furnished kitchen.
The entire villa was restored with an eye to comfort, beauty, and style. The garden,
maintained lovingly by the owner, is six acres in size and has been featured in
Italian garden magazines. Anyone staying here would enjoy the spaciousness and
beauty inside and outside of the villa. The owners' dog lives on the property;
though she is friendly, Villa Giardino is not appropriate for anyone allergic
to or afraid of dogs. The villa is equipped with wireless internet connection, but it works only in the garden and breakfast room.
