The lovely hilltown of Montecchio, strategically situated about 12 miles south
of Orvieto and about an hour north of Rome, allows easy access to Montepulciano,
Pienza, Montalcino, and the other beautiful hill towns of southern Tuscany, as
well as to all of Umbria. Todi, Spoleto, Assisi, and Perugia are popular destinations,
but we invite you to also visit the many delightful villages of a region still
somewhat undiscovered by tourists. One of Italy's most enchanting hill towns,
Civita di Bagnoregio, is just over the border into Lazio. Visit spectacular gardens,
like Villa Lante, near the medieval city of Viterbo, or the monster park at Bomarzo,
a wonderful destination for children. On days when you don't wish to drive, take
the train to Rome in about an hour.
La Rosaccia is an elegant stone villa
with lovely furnishings and beautiful flower gardens. It is well suited for a
number of couples traveling together, or ideal for two families. On the ground
floor are three sitting rooms, providing plenty of comfortable seating and space.
Two have fireplaces and one has a picture window with a panoramic view of the
surrounding countryside. The kitchen is well equipped, with a fireplace and dishwasher.
There is also a laundry room and a full bath on this level.
Upstairs, on
the second floor, are three bedrooms, each with en suite bath. One bedroom is
larger than the others and has a queen-sized bed. The other two have twin beds,
which can be made up separately or together. On the third floor are three twin
bedrooms, one with its own bath. The other two share a bath. All of the bathrooms
in the villa have shower over bathtubs. All of the bedrooms have air-conditioning.
La Roscaccia offers stunning views of the countryside and is equipped with
amenities like telephone, washing machine, CD and cassette player, and a wireless
dial-up service for accessing the Internet. The beautiful grounds and gardens
are well maintained, with several charming paths leading to the swimming pool.
