Umbria is known for its striking natural landscapes and magical hill towns. Located midway between the historic hill towns of Orvieto and Todi, La Cupa is an oasis of peace and tranquility, yet gives easy access to both. Assisi and Perugia are within an hour's drive, and Rome is just two hours away.
Bird watchers can visit the nearby wildlife reserve at Lago d'Alviano, while Italy's largest volcanic lake, Lago di Bolsena, is great for water sports or boat trips to its two picturesque islands. Guests at La Cupa will find
basic conveniences in the pretty hilltop village of Acqualoreto, just three kilometers away.
La Cupa sits on a hill in an enchanted clearing overlooking
the Tiber Valley and the idyllic Umbrian countryside. Lovely gardens surround the two-story stone farmhouse (1600 sq. ft.). Enter from the terrace, outfitted with patio furniture for
dining or lounging. A large built-in fireplace takes center stage in La Cupa's
charming living room, which, like many rooms in the house, has tile floors and a beamed ceiling. Also on the ground floor is a bright and tidy kitchen with dishwasher, a dining room and a small bathroom with shower.
Three bedrooms are located upstairs. One is a romantic queen bedroom with en suite bathroom (shower over tub). The other two bedrooms — a double with two twin beds that can be made up separately or together, and a single — share a bathroom with shower. The house is equipped with satellite TV, telephone, window screens in every room, and
a washing machine.
Outdoors, a lovely pool (5 x 10 meters) with shade at one end is set just a few meters from the
house. Two graceful chestnut trees provide shade for a great stone picnic table.
La Cupa's charming owner lives in a separate wing next door. Our guests tell us they love having her there. She is gracious and knowledgeable — and never intrusive. Patios are arranged to guarantee privacy.
