Umbria is a timeless landscape of medieval hill towns, famous
for its tranquillity and hospitality. The quiet shores of Lake Trasimeno, Italy's
fourth largest lake, is a perfect location for exploring Montepulciano, Siena,
Arezzo, Cortona, Perugia, Assis, Orvieto, and the many other captivating towns
of Umbria and southern Tuscany. From here, one can travel north by rail to Florence
(1.5 hours) or south to Rome (1 hour).
Canto della Collina
has been restored by Tuscan and Umbrian artisans to an exquisite mix of traditional
rustic style and gracious elegance. Set on a hill above the northeast shore of
Lake Trasimeno and surrounded by olive and oak trees, Canto della Collina faces
the lake and its windows provide breathtaking views from each floor. The three-story
house, made of local stone and chestnut wood, has floors of handmade Umbrian tile
and the walls are painted in traditional colors. The property has been renovated
with tender loving care, from careful research to construction using authentic
materials, and is furnished with porcelain dishes and handmade linen curtains.
Each piece of furniture was chosen from among the finest Florentine antiques.
