This top quality townhouse in Umbria is a dream — life in an adorable Italian village with all the modern amenities, yet full of old world charm — with beamed ceilings, beautiful antiques, and terra cotta terrace with a breathtaking panorama over the hills and valley. The house is located at the very edge of the town, which allows it such fabulous views of the countryside.

Casa Carina is close to the train line in Fabro (5 minutes away, local train) or in Orvieto, where you can park free and take the express train to Rome (45 minutes). The village is centrally located, and many day trips are possible, including Todi, Spoleto, Perugia, Siena, Montepulciano, Montalcino, San Casciano dei Bagni and Cortona. Florence will take longer but is also doable.

Cozy and loveable, yet elegant and sophisticated, Casa Carina is cleverly designed to take maximum advantage of space. Beautifully furnished with antiques, American mattresses, Ginori china, beautiful linens, and travertine counter tops in the kitchen, the house has all of the modern amenities. All three bathrooms have showers (no tubs).

Step out the door and you are right in a village with friendly Italian residents as well as a grocery shop, fruit and vegetable shop, coffee bars, a couple of restaurants and other services.

For those guests renting a car, there is also a free parking lot that is a 2-3 minute walk downhill. Because the town market is held on the first Sunday of the month, cars must be moved to another parking lot nearby on Saturday night and can be returned on Sunday afternoon.

Please note: some ducking is required!

• 1 bedroom with French bed (larger than a twin, smaller than a double); en suite bathroom with shower. You can stand uipright in the room and around the bed and in the shower, but for use of the sink you have to be short or careful

* Because of the open stairs and elegance of the furnishings, it is not appropriate for young children or very elderly adults. Also, the fifth and sixth people should not be tall because of the eaves on the third floor. Although technically there is sleeping space for up to eight guests, Casa Carina is really ideal for one or two couples, with the occasional visitor.
