Perugia, located between Rome and Florence, is the main city of Northern Umbria.
Well known for its archaeological museum, Etruscan Arch
and University for Foreigners, it is an ideal location to explore all of Umbria
(Orvieto, Gubbio, Spoleto, Todi, and Assisi) and all of southern Tuscany (Cortona,
Cetona, San Sepullcro, Siena, and Arezzo). A car is not necessary. In fact, finding your way by car and parking in this ancient part of town is difficult, though it is possible to park at a distance and walk to the apartment. Within 100 meters you will find a good selection of shops and restaurants.
The apartment is located just down the street from the University for Foreigners, making it an ideal spot to settle in and study Italian for a few weeks — or months. For fit travelers who enoy walking and traveling by public transportation, this apartment is a hidden gem. However, because of the climb to the apartment (58 steps), we don't recommend the Alessi Apartment for anyone with a walking problem.
The apartment
has high ceilings, nice views and pleasing décor. Since
it is entered through a cloister (under restoration), it has light without the
noise you would have if the windows were on the street.
Upstairs, enter into a nice
hall. On the right is a double bedroom with fireplace and bathroom with tub. On the other side is the other double bedroom and bathroom with shower. From the hall, steps lead up to the spacious main living/dining room, furnished with high quality antiques (some are elegant, some rustic) and original art. The living/dining room is outfitted with a fireplace, TV, radio and telephone. It opens onto a nice terrace with a beautiful view over the rooftops and walls of Perugia. On the same there, there is a lovely, well-equipped kitchen with a microwave.
