Catstiglione della Pescaia was once an ancient, fortified castle. It is now a chic ocean side town with pretty harbor for sailboats and very clean turquoise sea. It is 2.5 hours by car from Florence and Rome and 1.5 hours from Pisa and Siena. Sightseeing possibilities nearby include Etruscan sites and tombs, marvelous medieval hill town villages, and a large national park and wildlife preserve. There are many tennis courts, an 18-hole golf course and a wonderful wooded area nearby. The surrounding area is peaceful, classic Tuscan country with olive trees, cypress, and pines.

Castiglione (about 8 minutes away) is a vibrant seaside resort town in the summer with lovely restaurants offering fresh seafood. Although this is one of the places where Italians with means spend their summers, it is still relatively undiscovered by tourists. The nearby beach is wide and sandy, and lined with a deep pine forest. It is possible to walk from the house to the beach, but it is steeply down, so it would be difficult to walk back up. A more pleasant alternative is to drive downhill, park on the street, and walk from there.

An easy climb up about twenty steps brings you to Casa Fabrizio, where you will find a spectacular panorama overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Inside, a spacious living room is comfortably furnished, with a fireplace and sleep sofa for one. The modern kitchen is fully equipped, with oven, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, and microwave. There are three bedrooms on the same floor: two have matrimonial beds, and one has joinable twin beds. There are two tiled bathrooms, one with tub and shower, the other with shower and washing machine for clothes.

The yard has a BBQ and lounge chairs for relaxing. The garden is furnished for al fresco dining, with a table, umbrella, and chairs.

The owner of Casa Fabrizio is a "geocacher." He is willing to help guests learn about this adventure game for GPS users, which involves setting caches all over the world and sharing their locations on the Internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches.

Casa Fabrizio is comfortable and well-designed for casual and relaxed vacation living. The next door neighbor also rents his villa, so there is a possibility of renting both houses to sleep 10-11 people. Please inquire if you are interested.
