Fattoria Rugiagli is an authentically restored 16th-century Tuscan farmhouse estate surrounded by 33 acres of vineyards and olive groves in the hills surrounding Lucca. Here you can experience a serene and peaceful setting of terraces hillsides and pure country air scented with lavender, wild rosemary and sage. The location offers easy access to the beaches of the Versilian Riviera and to the charming walled city of Lucca (12 km), with shops, galleries, restaurants. Lucca's tree-topped medieval walls are great for strolling or cycling, and the surrounding hills are dotted with some of Tuscany's finest villas and gardens. Within a five-minute walk of Rugiagli is the aristocratic 16th century Villa Torrigiani, housing a fine collection of paintings and porcelain and surrounded by lovely gardens, open to the public. Excursions by car or train are possible to Florence. The famous hill towns of Tuscany are all accessible, as are thermal baths and the famous marble quarries of Carrara. Pisa is 30 minutes away by train or car. A small village with grocery, bakery and coffee bar is just 300 meters from Rugiali.

The apartments at Fattoria Rugiagli occupy the second floor and third floor of a restored 16th-century residence of stone and stucco that is just next to the estate's main farmhouse. The apartments have private furnished garden areas with for dining al fresco. A shared staircase leads to each apartment, one on the left and one on the right. The studio is located in a separate building just behind the pool.Furnishings are tasteful and rustic, mixing antiques with more modern pieces, and each accommodation offers lovely views over the olive groves, vineyards and lavender-filled gardens to the mountains. Amenities include satellite TV, dishwasher, wireless internet access, and window screens. The salt-water swimming pool (12 x 6 meters) is shared by the apartment guests and occasionally the owners, if they are in residence.

THE APARTMENTS:

MIMOSA (sleeps 2+1; 600 sq. ft.) has an open-plan living/dining room with high ceilings, a dining table seating four and a kitchen corner. A staircase leads to the bedroom with queen-sized bed and bathroom with shower. (As the steps have no railing, the apartment is not recommended for those with young children.) A cot is available to sleep one extra person in the living area.

JASMINE (sleeps 2+2; 750 sq. ft.) has a pleasant living room, a dining area accommodating up to six and a kitchenette. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a view, and a separate sleeping loft with a sleep sofa and bathroom with tub.

LAVENDER (sleeps 2) has a private terrace overlooking the pool and an open plan design which includes a kitchenette with dishwasher, small fridge and 2-burner stovetop, a table for four, a bathroom with shower, and a queen-sized bed.
