Surrounded by terraced olive groves, this magnificent 19th-century villa was once the workshop of Felice Matteucci, inventor of the internal combustion engine. Recently restored to the highest level of style and comfort, Casa Matteucci is a world class villa, exceptional in every way.

Located just ten minutes from the medieval walled town of Lucca, Casa Matteucci is a perfect base for exploring Chianti and the hilltowns of Tuscany. Florence is an hour away, and Pisa is just 30 minutes. Hike the dramatic cliff villages of the Cinqueterre (1 hour), explore the seaside of the Versilian Riviera (30 minutes) or relax at a nearby thermal spa. Tennis and horseback riding facilities are available in the area, and 18-hole golf courses are found in nearby Montecatini or in Versilia.

The magnificent grounds surrounding the villa include a private pond with its own island and a spacious floodlit salt water swimming pool. A BBQ and outdoor tables and chairs invite al fresco dining.

The twin bedroom can be connected to one of the doubles, and all of the bedrooms have beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. Amenities include stereo, satellite TV, telephone/fax, internet access and computer facilities, and central air-conditioning.

This top-of-the-line villa comes with staff six days per week, including a chef who will prepare a Continental buffet breakfast and your choice of either lunch or dinner. A gardener tends the grounds and pool. Many additional services are available upon request.
