This gracious 16-room villa will take your breath away and will be deeply appreciated by people who love history and antiques. Inhabited by the present family for five generations, Villa Giovanna conveys all the warmth and elegance of the 18th century. Throughout the villa are beautiful antiques and rich details including frescoed ceilings, chandeliers, carpets and brocade wallpaper that is the original from the 18th century.

Villa Giovanna sits on a hillside 500 meters from the tiny village of San Quirico de Moriano, overlooking the mountains and the lovely medieval walled town of Lucca, just six kilometers away. Within its tree-topped walls you will find delightful gardens, lovely shops and fine restaurants. The adjacent countryside offers grand villas, wineries and golfing. Villa Giovanna is 20 kilometers from the beaches of Viareggio and an hour from the Cinqueterre and the Carrara marble quarries. Florence (1 hour) and Pisa (1/2 hour) are accessible by car or by rail from Lucca, making Villa Giovanna an ideal base for day trips throughout Tuscany. A private chapel makes Villa Giovanna a wonderful location for a wedding.

Every amenity for comfortable and gracious living is provided, including wireless internet access and air conditioning in two of the bedrooms. The ground floor has an entrance hall, a large living room with fireplace and French doors opening onto the garden, a dining room, and a cozy breakfast room with fireplace. The kitchen has a microwave, dishwasher, and marble-topped table, and will delight even the most discriminating cooks. There is a bathroom on this floor, as well as a laundry room with washing machine and a cloakroom.

The second floor is the "Piano Nobile" where you will find the grand salon with French doors opening onto the front staircase to the garden, the master (double) bedroom with four poster bed and en suite bathroom with a tub and a separate shower. On the other side of the salon is a second double bedroom with bathroom (shower). The third floor has a sitting room, double bedroom, two twin bedrooms and three bathrooms with showers. All bathrooms are tiled and have modern fixtures. Most of the beds have new orthopedic mattresses.

The exterior of the villa is in keeping with the beauty of the interior. The garden is an extraordinary example of Mediterranean elegance: palms and cedars mixed with potted citrus trees and flowering plants. It is terraced on two levels with the pergola and lovely swimming pool built into the lower level in what was once a water reservoir.

Please note that the owner's large dogs live on the property. Although they are quite friendly, we don't recommend Villa Giovanna for guests who are allergic to dogs.
