This old-style family villa is located in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods of Forte dei Marmi — the Viale Morin. Just 100 meters (109 yards) from the beach, Villa Edera is convenient to everything. Relax in the garden, or dine al fresco in the villa’s outdoor dining area. Take a boat ride to Portovenere on the Ligurian coast, or daytrip to the lovely walled town of Lucca; many of Tuscany’s finest villas and gardens are located in the surrounding hills. The villa comes with staff and a cabana and changing room at the Bagno America beach club.
The chic beach resort of Forte dei Marmi, which literally means “fort of the marbles,” actually takes its name from the fortress that stands in the main square; but in the 19th and 20th centuries this was where the marble quarried nearby was stored before being sent to the pier for shipping. Today, the square is lined with designer boutiques and upscale restaurants, and you can shop till you drop at the weekly Wednesday market, famous for fashion bargains. Forte dei Marmi has become a haven for the rich and famous. Guests pedal between secluded villas in the pines and private beach clubs. At night, the town comes to life. There is fine dining, late-night shopping, and children will be delighted with the pony rides and go-karts in the square.
