People always tell us our photographs do not do justice to this astonishing apartment. We've tried, but for some reason, it's impossible to encompass the space in a single snapshot. Antico Granaio is located on the second floor of an ancient country farmhouse surrounded by gardens, vineyards, and the hills of Tuscany. The small village of San Vincenzo a Torri, just a mile away, has a bakery and a grocery store and there is a nice restaurant within walking distance that serves typical Tuscan cuisine at very reasonable prices. The nearest town, Montelupo, is just a little further (three miles). Florence is just ten miles away; the best way to get there is to drive to one of the new tram stops in Scandicci (ten minutes away, with ample parking). Trams run continuously (every five minutes) and take just 12 minutes to get to the center of Florence. Although it is possible to do some daytrips without a car, it is necessary to have a rental car here, and you will want one for exploring Tuscany's charming hill towns and enjoying the local cuisine at the wonderful restaurants of Chianti. Swimming pool, golf course, tennis courts and horseback riding can be found nearby.

The English-speaking owners live next door and will be on hand to welcome you. Their large 550-acre estate produces wine, vin santo, eggs, and olive oil. If you have a chance to see their villa, you will be treated to a glimpse into the past and a fabulous art collection.

High ceilings are beamed and floors are terracotta. A flight of stairs (18 steps) leads to the entrance of the apartment.

Wine is made during late September and early October and could be intrusive at times, unless you love wine and are interested in seeing the process firsthand.

Just across the hall from Antico Granaio is I Galli. The two accommodations can be rented together conveniently to sleep up to seven guests; there is a cost reduction when the two are rented together.
