| Villa dei Girasoli is one of our most interesting and elegant villas, set in the most desirable location in the beautiful hills south of Florence. This wonderfully renovated farmhouse is spotlessly clean with every possible modern convenience, a staff, and the warmth and charm we love in Tuscany. The views and grounds are splendid. The ancient stone villa sits on 1 square hectare of fenced, private grounds, shared only with the caretakers' little stone house. The housekeeper can cook dinners on request, or dine at one of the many fine local restaurants in our restaurant guide. The nearest shopping center is in Impruneta, two kilometers away, where you can purchase all your food and supplies. The famous Golf Club Ugolino (18 holes) is 10 minutes away, and there is also a tennis club. Florence is 12 km. away, Siena 50 km., Pisa 80 km., and Greve 12 km. The villa is just off of the famous Chiantigiana (Route 222), giving easy access to the Chianti Hills in one direction and Florence in the other. You can also walk to a bus on the road where the villa is located that will take you to the center of Florence. Possibilities for daytrips are endless and enticing. From here you can visit the glories of the Florentine Renaissance and the medieval intricacies of Siena, sample the Chianti Classico vineyards, shop in the weekly open-air markets in local villages, or simply relax at the pool and watch the marvelous Tuscan sunsets. This sophisticated villa is 350 sq. meters on two floors, with lovely terraces and a beautiful pergola for dining al fresco. The entrance leads through a beautiful arched door into a large entrance hall with a vaulted ceiling. To the left are two large living rooms (TV) and a study with telephone and fireplace that opens onto a bi-level terrace. To the right there is a dining room (table seats 10), a fully equipped eat-in double kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, cappucino maker, gas and electric stove, and open fireplace for making pizza), 1 1/2 bathrooms (one with tub), a large laundry room (with extra bed for a nanny, washing machine, and sink), terrace, outdoor furniture and BBQ. Upstairs are six bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and a study. There are three large double bedrooms (2 with king-sized beds), and 3 single bedrooms. Two bathrooms have a bathtub plus a separate shower, and one has a tub with hand shower (and folding doors to aid in showering). Furnishings throughout were carefully selected for both comfort and harmony. Walls are hung with beautiful oriental carpets, original paintings and a very special hand-stitched quilt. The atmosphere is airy, cheerful and beautiful in every way. No more than three children under the age of 10 are not permitted at Villa dei Girasoli. Because a cat and the owner's small dog are occasionally in residence, we don't recommend Villa dei Girasoli for any guests with pet allergies. |
