Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, La Fontanella is perfect for four couples or an extended family, and the location couldn’t be better! Set on an idyllic hillside just 15 minutes (18 kilometers) from Florence and less than an hour from Siena, this elegant country house is within an hour’s drive of Lucca, and all of the beautiful hill towns of Chianti are within easy reach. The closest village, Mercatale, with shops and restaurants, is just two kilometers away, and horseback riding is available nearby (3 km).

The house was totally restored in 2006, and the attention to detail and beauty is remarkable. The property includes the house (530 sqm), a small dependence (40 sqm) and one of the most beautiful swimming pools we've ever seen (15 x 7.5 meters) — also with a hot tub.

A short unpaved road (1200 meters) leads to the villa, which was once a small monastery. The lawn is bordered with roses and olive trees, and a shaded stone patio overlooks the pool. It is furnished with a long table, comfortable chairs and a BBQ for dining al fresco. A few steps away is the beautiful fresh-water pool with Jacuzzi, surrounded by lounge chairs, tables and umbrellas, and a panoramic view of the Chianti hills.

Inside, La Fontanella has beautiful terracotta tile floors and beamed ceilings, and is divided into two floors.

Ground floor:

• Dining area with table for 12
• Fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, washer & dryer
• 1 double bedroom (5 steps) with twin beds (can be joined on request) and bathroom (shower)
• 1 bathroom with shower

Second floor:

• Spacious central living room with fireplace
• 1 master bedroom with en suite bathroom (Jacuzzi tub)
• 1 twin bedroom with en suite bathroom (shower)
• 2 double bedrooms, each with en suite bathroom (shower); the double beds can not be separated
• All of the upstairs bedrooms are air-conditioned.

Dependence:

• 1 double bedroom
• 1 bathroom

The dependence is not suitable for children or guests with walking difficulties.

Amenities include air-conditioning in the upper bedrooms, satellite TV. There is no telephone, but it is possible to access the internet.
