Il Casolare is a typical Tuscan farmhouse located in the heart of the Chianti wine region, just 14 kilometers from Florence and within an hour’s drive of San Gimignano, Siena, Lucca, Pisa, and the chic beach resorts of Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio. The small village of San Vincenzo a Torri is just a mile away, with a bakery and a grocery store. Montelupo Fiorentino, an important ceramics center, is neaby (3 km). Cerbaia is a few minutes' drive, with shops and services. There is a train station in Montelupo, and bus service into Florence from a nearby town. Although it is possible to visit many destinations by public transportation, you will need a car here. The farm has belonged to the owner's family since 1970. In 2007, she lovingly renovated the house, built in the 1800's, with an emphasis on comfort and tradition. The owner, who lives on the property, is English-speaking and is available for itinerary and dining suggestions. She is very attentive without intruding on your privacy. A cypress-lined drive leads past vineyards and olive groves to Il Casolare, nestled within 40 hectares of land, where olives, grapes, fruit and other products are grown. The grounds offer several lovely spots for relaxing or dining al fresco. From dawn until dusk, the terrace and covered loggia invite you to enjoy the warmth and spirit of the Tuscan countryside. A swimming pool is located on the south side of the house, in a spot that enjoys all-day sunshine. Relax by the pool after a day of sightseeing. The rolling countryside is ideal for mountain biking and hiking. There is a gym on site, and nearby you will find tennis courts, a squash center and a golf course. Il Casolare has five bedrooms. Each has cast iron beds, en suite bathroom, satellite TV, internet access, telephone, individual heating and air-conditioning. Most of the rooms can accommodate an extra bed on request.
Amenities: screens on all windows, individual room controlled central heating and air-conditioning, satellite TV, DVD players and extensive DVD library, phone, fax, free internet access (wireless in the common areas of the hous, i.e.dining room, living room and loggia; and via cable in the bedrooms), and useful informative book collection. Italian mobile phones are available for rental. Il Casolare is fully staffed (staff lives on the premises) to include daily maid service, pool and garden maintenance and a farmhouse country breakfast including fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, eggs, local cheese and meats, an assortment of breads, and their own organic preserves.
