Here is a place where traditional and modern blend harmoniously. Antico Palmento, an ancient mill of gypsum and stone, has recently been completely restored and beautifully furnished in a minimalist style that emphasizes the simplicity and beauty of nature. The house has lovely views of the wild and hilly Sicilian landscape from every window. Located on a beautiful olive estate near the southern coast of Sicily, Antico Palmento offers many wonderful daytrip possibilities. Palermo, Catania, Cephalu, Siracusa, Piazza Armerina and Selinunte are all within two hours, and Agrigento is nearby, with its magnificent Valley of the Temples. The closest shops are just two kilometers away, and there is a train station 15 kilometers from the property.

In front of the house is a beautiful infinity swimming pool that reflects the branches of the surrounding olive trees, and a large terrace with a panoramic view of the countryside offers the ideal spot for dining under the stars or enjoying lunch by the pool.

During the fall, guests can participate in the olive harvest, or just watch the hand picking that is the hallmark of the very special oil that is produced here. In addition to olives, this peaceful estate grows a variety of fresh herbs; guests are invited to help themselves. Many services are available, including cooking classes, laundry service and babysitting. You can arrange to have dinner prepared at a nearby B&B, with delicious food prepared from the freshest ingredients. On request and for an additional charge, the owner will take you on his 35-foot boat where you can enjoy the scenery and have lunch on board.

Antico Palmento is centrally heated and air-conditioned, making it comfortable year round. There is no TV and no telephone. Guests are welcome to check email in the estate office; or, if you want to bring your laptop, you can rent an internet "key" from the office.
