This beautiful villa is located 15 minutes from Recanati and 15 minutes from
Porto Recanati. Recanati is a medieval hill town famous to all Italians as the
birthplace of Giacomo Leopardi, whom some think their most famous poet after Dante.
It is a charming town with lovely restaurants and shops offering products typical
of the Marche region. Porto Recanati, on the beach, is a favorite place for Italians
to vacation in the summer, especially in August. The villa is called
Villa Antica because of the magnificent 15th century antique furnishings. Set
on a hill and surrounded by a garden, it has an unforgettable view in every direction
from the snow-capped mountains, to the medieval town called Potenza Picena, and
to the wide expanse of blue Adriatic Sea.
After entering the property
through a gate into the garden, one finds oneself on a terrace with table and
chairs, pots with flowers and a large swimming pool. Next to the pool is a small
pool house used for ping pong and table soccer. At the end of the house is a covered
loggia; a second terrace is just off the kitchen. The large living room has tiled
floors, fine oriental carpets, wood-beamed ceiling and two comfortable sofas on
each side of the large open fireplace.
Small but priceless touches
complete the picture with a chess set of marble atop an ancient Greek capitol
and an authentic Roman amphora resting in the stairwell. Also on this floor is
a large, beautifully tiled and fully fitted kitchen, with wood oven in addition
to modern oven and refrigerator and pantry. On this floor is a remarkable cork-tiled
bathroom with double sink, tub, bidet and WC.
Upstairs are two
double bedrooms (one with fireplace, balcony and bathroom with tub en suite) and
one quadruple bedroom with two sofa beds, each sleeping two and balcony. There
is a spotless, tiled bathroom with tub, double sink, bidet and WC.
Here a family
with well-behaved children or three couples will find privacy, peace and splendid
vistas. Yet, the location is convenient for enjoying the Adriatic coast and all
of the major sites of interest in the Marche region, including Ancona, Urbino,
Pesaro, S. Benedetto del Tronto and Loreto. Rome is about 3 hours to the southwest
across the mountains, Umbria is to the west and Ravenna is about 2 hours up the
coast.
