I Balconi Apartment is on the fifth floor of a stately palazzo on a beautiful
small square with a fountain in an historical neighborhood. Most of Rome's attractions are within walking distance. Shop for groceries at the bustling morning market on the Campo de' Fiori. If you prefer to dine out, there are three wonderful restaurants within a block or two where you can sample true Roman cuisine. This is the heart of the Jewish quarter, and the narrow cobblestone streets are lined with small family-run shops and four ancient temples. The location is surprisingly quiet, considering you are in the heart of the city, since this is a car-free zone; and the views form the balconies are lovely, with red roof tiles in the foreground and ancient monuments in the background.
The Pantheon and Piazza Navona
are five minutes' walk, and the Capitoline Museums and splendid
views from the Capitoline Hill, and the Roman and Imperial Forums are just a few minutes further. Walking south from the apartment one quickly reaches the Tiber River
just at the point where a tiny island divides it: this is the Isola Tiberina.
Cross over the island and into the enchanting area known as Trastevere with its
narrow alleys, artisan shops, and restaurants. To reach the Vatican or the main
train station, a hub of
public transportation is found in a nearby square, the Largo di Torre Argentina.
I
Balconi is on the fifth floor (with elevator) of a palazzo that dates back to the 16th
and 17th centuries. Enter into a hallway that leads to a large bi-level room. The living room is on the upper level and it outfitted with TV and telephone. On the lower level is a recently remodeled kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and clothes washer, and a dining room that opens onto a spacious terrace, furnished for al fresco dining and sunbathing, or just for enjoying the views.
A winding staircase leads from the terrace to a second furnished terrace with even better views! Please note, the winding stairs can be dangerous for unattended small children.
The apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom has
a queen-sized bed. The main bathroom, accessed from the hall, has a tub. The second
bedroom has two twin beds and a bathroom with shower across the hall.
A narrow balcony runs across
the front of the apartment, connecting to the main terrace off of the living room. Both bedrooms also open onto this long balcony.
