Ancient Rome at your doorstep! The Aventino Townhouse overlooks the Palatine
archeological sites and sits just across from the Circus Massimo, so it is easy
to transport yourself back to early Roman history to imagine the chariots racing
around the Circus Massimo and the crowds cheering for their favorites. The Piazza
Venezia and the Coliseum are a 5-minute walk from the villa, and the fabled Golden
House of Nero is just a bit further. The Palatine Hill with the gardens and many
ruins are visible from the apartment. But you are also close to all of Rome on
foot or by metro (5 min. away), which will carry you to the central train station
(Stazione Termini), the Spanish Steps, the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's Square.
Restaurants and shops are to be found near the metro stop. The townhouse
is part of a fantastic period villa surrounded by enclosed private gardens and
with private parking. Its three levels are decorated with a flair for color and
with many personal touches from the owner who lives in the main part of the villa.
You enter through a doorway with the inscription "Anno Jubilee 1600." On the entry-level
floor are two comfortable bedrooms, one with queen-sized bed and an en suite bathroom
with tub and shower, the other with twin beds that can be made up together or
separately. From the second bedroom an independent staircase leads to the lower
level, where there is a bathroom with shower (also accessible by the main spiral
staircase from the ground level).
The lower level has a third, smaller double
bedroom (with window), a dressing room with sofa and ironing facilities, and the
bathroom with shower mentioned above. The upper floor (up a spiral staircase from
the ground floor) has a very comfortable sitting/dining area and a lovely open
kitchen with a refrigerator, double sink, four-burner stove, toaster oven, microwave,
dishwasher and washing machine. Leading from the sitting room is a fabulous terrace
which overlooks the Palatine Hill and which is furnished for outdoor dining. Surrounded
by large trees, and covered in the summertime, the terrace is so inviting it may
be difficult to advance the cause of tourism instead of relaxing with a coffee
or a wine in this serene setting. The apartment is provided with a telephone (with
free Internet access) and satellite TV. |
