DESCRIPTION: Villa Rivetta is a lovely original fisherman's house situated on the pebbled shore of Lake Como. The house sits just above the water, in the picturesque lake resort of S. Maria Rezzonico, on Lake Como's northwest shore. Villa Rivetta maintains its original charm but has been renovated with modern conveniences, including a laundry room and sauna in the basement. This is one of our favorite properties in the lakes, especially because the lake is just outside your door, and there is a lake view from every window. The stylish interior is nicely decorated and comfortable. A painted wooden boat adorns the kitchen ceiling, giving you the feeling that you are living in a boat! Outside you will find a BBQ area with table and chairs, and a wonderful view of the lake. The lakefront is public, so it is possible that you may see an occasional walker or fisherman. There is no access by car to the house. To reach Villa Rivetta, you must leave your car at the top of the village and walk down through the narrow cobbled street and 55 steps to the house (approximately 250 meters). The path can be slippery when wet, so this property is not suitable for elderly guests or anyone with walking problems. A porter service is available to help with your luggage, but leave your high heels at home and bring a pair of good walking shoes. In the village you will find a pizzeria, and other shops can be found two kilometers south. S. Maria Rezzonico is just 6 kilometers north of Menaggio, where you will find the closest lake ferry dock. Switzerland and the highest mountains in Europe lie Just to the north. A drive down the lake (or a boat ride) brings you to the town of Como, known as a vacation spot of the elite as well as for its production of fine silk. Day trips can be made by bus or car to the nearby Belaggio (15 km by ferry), Tremezzo (20 km), Lugano, Switzerland (30 km) and to hiking in the Alps and by steamer on Como. Milan is about 36 miles to the south and Malpensa Airport is 90 km (54 miles) away. In the village you can find a restaurant, trattoria, alimentari (grocery stores), and walks along the lake. Here it is also possible catch a bus or to rent a boat. Other sports available in S. Maria Rezzonico include sailing and wind surfing. There are also many fine and beautiful golf courses in the lake area; the closest golf and tennis are in Mennagio. Shoppers will also love the designer fashion factory outlets available just over the border into Switzerland and near Como. The house consists of two double bedrooms, three bathrooms and an independent studio with one double bedroom and a bathroom. On the ground floor is a spacious, well-equipped open-style kitchen and a dining room with plenty of windows, providing light as well as a fabulous view of the lake and mountains. Upstairs is a living room, a bathroom with jacuzzi tub and a double bedroom with bathroom (shower), as well as a lovely terrace facing the lake. On the top floor is another double bedroom with a loft that has two additional single beds and a bathroom with shower. A small studio has its own entrance and is located all on one floor, with kitchenette, double bed, bathroom with shower, and a beautiful terrace. AMENITIES: satellite TV, washing machine. PRICES:
