"Enchanted Waters of Italy"

Visit us at: www.villavacations.com

Dear Friend:

I just returned from Italy feeling wonderfully relaxed and refreshed. I call it my "enchanted waters" trip. Because virtually everywhere I went, from spectacular properties near the coasts of Puglia in the south to hilltop villas in Umbria, Italy's magical waters framed the experience.

The hills of Umbria near Todi, of course, are noted for their beauty. I stayed in a spacious and well-furnished villa overlooking the gentle curves of the Tiber River as it begins its descent to Roma and the lovely village of Todi (voted "the best, best place in the world to live" in a recent survey of American college professors).

In Casciano dei Bagni near Cetona -- where we have several remarkable villas -- I soaked in the warm, renewing waters of one of the town's spectacular world-class spas -- a treatment I wholeheartedly recommend for a quick recovery from jet-lag.

Can you imagine living on one of the Italian Lakes for
a week? We can....

Warm summers and mild winters give these southern lakeside a gorgeously fragrant covering of azaleas, oleander, citrus and olive trees. Lush green gardens with palm trees shade the water’s edge. Como and Maggiore are the principal lakes, they are very beautiful and unique. They both have their own originality and charm.

Amazing Lake views from
Villa Marquis on Lake Como

The tiny ports on Lake Como with their bright-colored fishing boats, lined up after the morning’s catch, are a sight not to miss. But the town of Como has much more to offer, including a stunning 14th century cathedral surrounded by tiny arcaded streets.

Lovely master bedroom
in Villa Anna. The good news is if you rent 4 weeks in August you will receive a 25% discount!

The crystal clear waters of Lake Maggiore are jade green to the north and a deep blue to the south. When staying in Villa Anna or Isola Villetta on Maggiore you can visit the famous Isole Borromee. This is a cluster of beautiful small islands which has a palace with most romantic gardens, fountains and statues set in an amazing landscape, overlooking the mountains. Facing these islands is the wide promenade of Stresa, busy with boat trips to all parts of the lake.

Breathtaking views of Lake Como

Some like it hot...

When staying at our new lovely farmhouse, Podere della Sorgente you will be among the gently rolling green hills which are south of Siena, in an enchanting corner of Tuscany with all of its splendor and close to the medieval village of San Casciano dei Bagni. And the hot water springs of Fonteverde flow, famous since ancient times for their beneficial effects for your body and soul.

The Amalfi Coast and Positano

Enjoy the nightly breeze at Volare

What to do on the Amalfi Coast and where to stay....

Boat Trip and Visit to Capri
While visiting the Amalfi Coast, don’t miss the Isle of Capri. It's only a short boat ride away from either Amalfi or Sorrento. Take a boat excursion around the island; you'll see some magnificent scenery.

While staying at Villa la Madonnina enjoy your own private access to the sea. Villa la Madonnina is positioned for great dramatic effect on a natural terrace, just meters above the sparkling blue of the Gulf of Salerno.

You can also see spectacular views of the sea from the sun terrace of
The Rocks
.

Boat Trip and Blue Grotto
A popular attraction, the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra) sea cave is known for its luminous blue water. See it by boat (they leave daily from the main harbor of Capri.)

Villa Volare and Villa Amore are two of the most desirable villas in the most beautiful settings on the Amalfi Coast. Volare which sleeps 9 is surrounded by greenery and it is very private, elegantly furnished with all the comforts and a beautiful view from every room with sea access. Amore is an exclusive villa with spectacular views and pool in Positano for 7-8 people. The villa comes with a cook and maid service.

Villa Santa Croce is a stunning property set just above Positano like a jewel in a crown, offering views of the sparkling Mediterranean and the isle
of Capri.

Pool side at Villa Amore

Pompeii
Buried in 79 A.D. under ash and mud when nearby Mt. Vesuvius erupted, the ancient Roman town of Pompeii (La città di Pompei) was not rediscovered until the 18th century. Today, you can visit the remains of its forum, shops, homes, and theaters, and imagine what life was like in this prosperous community.

Terrace Views from the Rocks

Ravello Church (Duomo)
If you travel by car from Amalfi, you'll encounter hairpin turns on the way to the breathtaking town of Ravello, which overlooks the sea. You can also take a half-hour bus ride from Amalfi to the main square, Piazza Vescovado, near the Duomo.

On the Sicilian Coast....

Sicily is a marvelous island, truly a garden of beautiful flowers growing both wild in its fields and around its archaeological sites and in beautifully tended gardens. There are actually more intact Greek temples here than there are in Greece.

Indeed, because of the island's strategic location in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea it was often conquered and traces are evident of all the major European and Mediterranean civilizations.

Villa Torrenova, an olive estate of 50 acres, sits only 500 meters from a small town where you can find freshly baked bread and pastries and Italian style bars, perfect for your morning cappuccino.

Casa Letizia is on an estate in the valley near the beautiful hill town of Taormina. From here guests can be at the seaside in 10 minutes!

The Tonnara Apartment puts you right in heart of seaside village within the city limits of Palermo, near enough to explore central Palermo (15 minutes away by car) with its rich history, culture and cuisine, and yet guests will find themselves in a beach side village just over a small restaurant. Best of all this apartment is discounted 50% for July and August!!
