Some of the most beautiful villages of France are within easy reach of Villa Bellevue, including Ménerbes, Lacoste, Goult, Bonnieux, and Roussillon. The closest villages, Beaumettes and Coustellet, are less than five minutes away, with a variety of shops and services. Aix-en-Provence is to the south, and the Côtes-du-Rhône wine-producing villages are to the north. L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, famous for its antiques dealers and open-air market, is a 20-minute drive. On days when you do not wish to drive, you can travel by TGV train from Avignon, just 30 minutes away.

A country road winds through a grove of oak and pine trees and leads to Villa Bellevue, situated in a small hamlet of farmhouses near the beautiful village of Gordes. This classic Provençal villa has thick stone walls and a terracotta roof. The house faces south to take advantage of the sunlight, and offers beautiful views over the Luberon valley. In spite of its tranquil countryside atmosphere, Villa Bellevue is within a 10-minute drive of several restaurants and food shops.

This top villa was decorated by a professional interior designer and has been furnished to the highest standards. Cool, pale colors contrast with natural wood tones. The house is filled with light.

On the ground floor is a spacious living room, decorated with earth tones and an occasional burst of color. Two sofas and several leather armchairs are arranged in front of a large fireplace, and a huge 18th-century armoire reaches to the ceiling. There is satellite TV with CNN and BBC reception. An archway separates the living room from the dining area, with a long farm table and leather chairs. French doors open from the living and dining room onto a terrace with a long stone table, a lovely setting for dining beneath the stars. Stone stairs descend from the terrace to the garden and pool. The well-outfitted kitchen has top-quality appliances, including a dishwasher, icemaker, and six-burner Lacanche stove. A laundry room with an American-style washer and dryer is located just off the kitchen.

Villa Bellevue has five charming bedrooms, each with its own en suite bath. All of the bedrooms are air-conditioned and each has its own private sitting area. All of the bedrooms are of almost equal quality, making Villa Bellevue ideal for a family or for several couples traveling together.

The master bedroom is one of two bedrooms on the ground floor. It has a fireplace, access to the terrace, and a bath has a tub and separate stall shower. The other ground-floor bedroom has twin beds and a bath with shower. Although this room is somewhat smaller than the others, it is equally charming.

A winding stone staircase leads to the second floor, where the remaining three bedrooms are located, each with a fine view of the countryside. One has a king-sized bed and en suite bath with tub and shower. The second has twin beds and bath with shower over tub. The third bedroom has a double bed and bath with shower. There is a second, more casual sitting area on this level, with satellite TV and a stereo with CD payer.

A word of caution: the beautiful infinity pool at Villa Bellevue has no shallow end (the entire pool is 5' deep), and is therefore a potential hazard for small children or for adults who can not swim. Young children must be supervised at all times, and are required to wear life-jackets, which are provided by the owner.
