This stunning air-conditioned apartment is perched above Villefranche, one of the prettiest
ports on the Mediterranean. Overlooking the Mediterranean and the bays of Villefranche,
Nice and the Baie des Anges, the apartment is in a small town (pop. 7,000) that
is five minutes downhill into Nice by car or public bus. Here you have easy access
to the beaches, artistic treasures, and nightlife of the Côte d'Azur including
the medieval towns of Grasse, perfume capital of the world, and to Saintt-Paul de
Vence, home of the world-famous art and sculpture museum, the Maeght Foundation.
Also convenient is the capital of Monaco, Monte Carlo, and the popular
resort town of Cannes (1/2 hour away). The Moyenne Corniche (the middle level
road), a two-minute walk downhill, offers a grocery store, two bakeries, green grocer,
butcher, fish market, pharmacy, post office, dry cleaner, bank, gas station and
city bus stop. There is a train station in Villefranche and a taxi stand just
outside on the street. Day trips can easily be made by rail along the coast without
a rental car.
What is unforgettable about this apartment is the spectacular
panoramic view. Three different harbors, mountains, azure seas, and white yachts
will captivate you. When you finally come back down to earth, you will remark
on the spacious, modern and freshly clean rooms. First, there is the large living/dining
room (with satellite TV, VCR that reads European and American tapes, high-speed
Internet, and metered phone) opening onto the splendid terrace, where we suspect
you will spend most of your time. The kitchen is completely modern and
well equipped with both a microwave and conventional oven, and with a dishwasher.
There are 2 bathrooms and three bedrooms: one with a king-sized bed and vanity
sink, one with a queen-sized bed, vanity sink and shower en suite, and the final
with twin beds. Each bedroom has a mirror and electrical outlets for drying hair
or shaving. The full bathroom is very large with double sinks, a large tub and
a separate glass shower stall and WC. Another toilet is in a separate room, which
makes it handy when everyone is getting ready to go out at once. The apartment
is on the second floor of a house and it has a private entrance. The American
owner, who lives below, will welcome you, give you the key and be available during
your stay. It is a tremendous help to have her expertise area close at hand and
she is enthusiastic about having guests.
You may use the clothes washing
machine in a laundry room on the ground level. The property is fenced and beautifully
landscaped with a rock garden. Although it is not necessary to have a car while
you are at Villa Maïtena, you can rent one in Nice and park it securely inside
the automatic gates. |
