Umbria Jazz, Perugia. Perugia’s summer jazz
festival--one of Europe’s biggest and best--runs
from mid-July until early August. The smaller
winter festival takes place from December 29
to January 5--including a New Year's Eve. Banquet
and all-night jazz parties.
Spoleto
Festival --From June 27th to July 13th,
this beautiful hill town hosts a world famous
music, opera and drama festival--plus open air
concerts in the duomo piazza.
Orvieto
Musica--Three weeks of chamber music workshops
and concerts in July.
Gubbio
Festival--Late July to early August classical
music concerts by internationally renown performers
in the town and below in the ruins of a 1st
century Roman theater.
Tuscan
Sun Festival, Cortona. Mid-August festival
of cinema, opera, orchestral concerts, chamber
music, art lectures, guided tours with wine
tastings and spa visits are all part of this
tasting of Tuscany’s culture.
Todi
Art Festival--late August through early
September--ten days of music, theater, dance
and the visual arts in charming medieval surroundings.
Festival
of Sacred Music, Perugia--During the second
and third week of September, this important
festival draws composers and performers from
every continent. As they leave town, other world-famous
musicians are arriving for Perugia’s Festival
of Classical Music.
Antique
Show of Italy, Todi--At Easter time, fashionable
Todi is home to one of the world’s finest antique
fairs.
