- Take the mini-metro up to Perugia. Visit the Perugina chocolate factory (tours Mon-Fri). You can even go to chocolate school!
- Ride the funicular to Orvieto. See the “Golden Lily” Cathedral and explore the deep double helix at St Patrick’s Well.
- Go to one of the beaches on Lake Trasimeno, or visit Isola Maggiore, one of three islands on the lake.
- Take a ceramics class in Ficulle or Deruta.
- Visit the Saint Francis Basilica in Assisi to see one church on top of another.
- Time your trip to coincide with one of the many festivals that take place in Umbria each year.
- Go white-water rafting, visit a water park, or go hiking on the Piano Grande, near Norcia.
- See the Roman theatres of Gubbio and Spoleto.
- Visit the Bomarzo Monster Park and the vanishing village of Civita di Bagnoregio in nearby Lazio.
