Hi dear friends,

I just came back from Torino a few weeks ago. When I think of it, I still get the feeling of having lived an unbelievable dream during those fabulous three weeks!

I was a little tiny party to a huge team of 25,000 volunteers. I belonged to a group of 850 people called N.O.C. (National Olympic Committee) Assistants, whose task was to host one of the 82 Olympic delegations and to assist them in their life in the Olympic Village. I worked with two different teams in the Olympic Village in Sestrière: I belonged to the Czech Republic Team for the first ten days, then was moved to the Swedish delegation, which was bigger and more competitive. I was in the larger of the two Olympic Villages in the mountains, so I really got involved with the Alpine and Cross Country Skiing events. It was wonderful to meet the athletes walking around the village, maybe next to their restaurant or by their gym, to talk to some of them and then to watch them compete at the Olympic venues — absolutely great! It was amazing for me to see how the places where I lived had become changed, improved, and… populated! There were people everywhere who were set on living in this unique atmosphere, from the city itself up into the mountains — attending the competitions, listening to the night concerts, or simply hanging out with friends at some typical spots or at the Olympic team houses.

Even though this experience took up six out of seven days for three weeks, I now realize that everything passed really quickly, and with ever-increasing emotions, from the rehearsal of the Opening Ceremony to the fabulous Dress Closing Ceremony. I still have a clear memory of how exciting this experience was, and I believe since that moment that…I definitely accomplished a dream!

Fondly,
