This restored stone farmhouse is set in a picturesque valley, with lovely gardens and extensive views over the countryside. The ambience is one of peacefulness and privacy, and the location is rural yet central, just 15 minutes from Cetona and the charming town of San Casciano dei Bagni, where you will find shops, restaurants, and one of our favorite Italian coffee bars. Arrange for health and beauty treatments at the famous Fonteverde Spa, or visit Montepulciano, Orvieto, Todi, and Perugia. Siena is just 45 minutes away, and you can travel by train to Florence or Rome in an hour and a half. Facilities for horseback riding and golf are located nearby. The house is accessed via an unpaved road of about 2.5 miles (the road is in good condition and not difficult to navigate). Inside, Artemisia has an informal, relaxed atmosphere. At the same time, it is sophisticated and eclectic. The décor is unique, with many interesting collections from around the world. There are several comfortable sitting areas on the ground floor, as well as a porch with a small dining table and a magnificent eat-in kitchen (with a dishwasher, microwave and cooking hearth) that is truly the heart of this home. The focal point of the kitchen is an oversized square wooden table that can seat 16. There are seven air-conditioned bedrooms at Artemisia. The large master suite has two French beds (each larger than a twin but not quite as large as an American double bed) and a spacious en suite bathroom with tub and shower. There are four double bedrooms with divisible queen beds and en suite bathrooms. Two suites are comprised of a small single bedroom, a large double with divisible queen bed, and a bathroom. To reach the double bedrooms, you have to walk through the single bedrooms, so the suites are best for a couple with a child. The garden is furnished with tables, chairs and umbrellas for dining al fresco or relaxing and enjoying the fabulous 360-degree views. The terrace has several shaded areas and there is a bocce court on the grounds as well as a BBQ and a swing for children. The private, fenced in swimming pool (17x16 meters) has its own pool house. Amenities include TV (Italian channels only), CD/stereo, DVD player, window screens, and high-speed ISDN line for Internet access (extra charge).
