Pecciolino is located within a two hundred year old “casa colonica” — one of several
traditional farmhouses on a large Chianti wine estate. Conveniences like a bakery
and grocery store are found just a mile away in the small village of San Vincenzo
a Torri. Three miles away is Montelupo Fiorentino, an important center for ceramics
during the middle ages and the Renaissance; today, visitors can explore its intriguing
ceramics museum. Florence is just ten miles away and can be reached by a public
bus from a nearby town. The closest train station is at Montelupo (6 km). Although it is possible to use public transportation for
some destinations, a car is required for guests who stay at Pecciolino.
The surrounding landscape
is dotted with medieval hill towns. Destinations like Siena and San Gimignano
are within easy reach. Follow the SS222, the Strada Chiantigiana, the ancient
wine road that traverses the countryside between Florence and Siena. Pecciolino
is strategically located for visiting Lucca, Pisa, and the beaches of the Versilian
Riviera. A swimming pool, golf course, tennis courts, and horseback riding facilities
are located nearby.
Occupying half of a traditional farm cottage, Pecciolino
enjoys an outstanding view of the countryside, olive groves, and vineyards,
and has access to a pretty terrace, furnished for al fresco dining.
An entrance hall leads into a cozy living room
with a fireplace. The rustic, comfortable furniture sets a warm tone that is maintained
throughout. A small, fully equipped eat-in kitchen with a dishwasher is also located
on the ground floor, as well as a single bedroom and two bathrooms.
Upstairs
are two more bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and the other with joinable twin beds. One bedroom has an en suite bathroom; guests in the second bedroom have to use the bathroom downstairs.
Pecciolino is centrally heated, and has a clothes
washing machine.
Piccolo
Peccioli occupies the other half of the cottage. Rented together, the
two properties are ideal for two families traveling together who desire separate
living quarters.
